BHR Pharmaceuticals Ltd began
life in 1990. The first products
were branded generics in the arthritis,
infection and gastrointestinal
fields. BHR took on Concise –
a pregnancy test from Hybritech.
A major product group, urine testing
strips from Macherey Nagel in
Germany, was then introduced to
the UK market by BHR.
Since the launch of these two
product groups in 1993-94, BHR
has rapidly gained extensive knowledge
and experience in the Point-of-Care
(POC) sector in the UK health
care industry. BHR has the ability
to source the best products from
around the world’s leading diagnostic
companies.
BHR’s major strength is in the
cardiovascular, female health
and diabetes markets. BHR markets
the CardioChek
brand of blood chemistry analyser
from PTS Inc in Indiana. This
brand is now among the most widely
used analyser for cholesterol
and full lipid profiling in the
UK. Health promotion teams have
particularly embraced this system
due to its accuracy, ease-of-use
and cost/benefit ratio.
BHR markets its own brand of
professional pregnancy tests –
CHECK-MATE
and along with this are the actimPARTUS
and actimPROM
tests (detect cervical ripeness
and premature rupture of the membranes
respectively), form the core of
the tests in the female health
segment.
BHR’s sales activities are conducted
via both a direct sales force
and a distributor / agent network,
servicing a wide number of specific
market segments in the UK and
Ireland. BHR’s objectives are
to offer the most economical,
accurate and precise POC tests
for both disease screening programmes
as well as for therapeutic monitoring.
