A hygienic, user-friendly screening
test for detection of occult fecal
blood.
Colorectal cancer affects men
and women equally and is one of
the leading types of cancer. Occult
blood in fecal samples is a sign
of bleeding in the gastrointestinal
tract. As tumors bleed, its presence
may therefore indicate colorectal
cancer.
Quick, Clear
and Clean
- No patient dietary restrictions
- Uses hygienically sealed samples
- Simple, specific and sensitive
Actim™ Fecal Blood is an immunochromatographic
test based on monoclonal antibodies
detecting hemoglobin in fecal
samples.
The test is easy and hygienic
to use and being specific for
human hemoglobin requires no patient
dietary restrictions.
The test sensitivity is set to
detect patients having more than
25-50 µg hemoglobin per gram of
feces and needing subsequent endoscopic
examinations.

Troubleshooting
- Too abrupt movement at inversion
or too quick inversion -
If the invasion is performed
to abruptly, liquid may enter
the sides of the dipstick and
cause over dipping that immobilises
the latex particles. Repeat
with another stick taking care
to invert peacefully.
- Too long inversion -
Repeat with another stick, do
not keep the tube inverted for
too long.
- Air-bubble trapped in lower
part of device -
Take a look at the lower end
of the perforating device. A
small air bubble may become
trapped at the bottom of the
dipstick and avoid the liquid
from getting in contact with
the absorbant pad. You can try
to perform the test again by
repeating the inversion. If
this does not work try the test
with another dipstick.
- Dipsticks have become wet
-
To ensure proper function of
the dipsticks they need to be
kept dry during storage. For
this purpose, the tube must
be allowed to reach room temperature
before opening. If the container
is opened when it is still cold,
it may absorb humidity from
the atmosphere, which may damage
the remaining dipsticks in the
container. An indication of
humidity damage is a blue colouring
at the result window.
Lines
appearing later than 10 minutes
A positive result can be interpreted
as soon as 2 blue lines become
visible in result window, however
a negative test must be confirmed
at 10 minutes.
As the immunochromatography rejection
continues to develop overtime,
the lines may become stronger
or even new lines may appear in
the result area. These line must
not be interpreted as positive
as they indicate analyte levels
below the cut-off value of the
test.
