Direct™ LDL Test Strips for the CardioCheck PA

The world’s first Point-of-Care test strip that directly measures LDL-Cholesterol.
Determine critical LDL Cholesterol results on site in less than 2 minutes – no fasting required.
Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL), the so-called “bad”-cholesterol, is considered a primary risk factor for cardiovascular disease, heart attack and stroke.
Until now there has never been a direct measurement for this critical analyte at point-of-care.
LDL Cholesterol test strips let you test direct LDL at Point-of-Care so you can immediately provide counselling, education or recommend drug therapy individuals may need.
Because direct LDL results are not affected by triglycerides, no fasting is required.
You have the freedom to test anytime, all day long.
Direct™ LDL testing with the handheld CardioChek PA analyser, lets you:
- Provide a direct, not calculated or estimated LDL value
- Get the results in less than 2 minutes
- Save time and effort – a quick finger stick is all that’s necessary
- Asses results right at point-of-care with a portable, battery-powered system
- Test anytime all day long
- No fasting required
- Minimize patients discomfort. One small drop of blood (about 15µL) is all that is required
- Keep test strips at point-of-use.
- No refrigeration required
- Test more frequently and monitor more closely to enhance compliance

These are only some of the features among many other great
others of the CardioCheck PA.

CardioChek Metabolic
Chemistry Panel
The 1st Point-of-Care test foe the 3 blood levels used to diagnose Metabolic Syndrome

The new CardioChek Metabolic Syndrome Panel offers a fast and convenient way to obtain values for 3 of the key indicators :
- HDL-Cholesterol
- Glucose
- Triglycerides
The most significant quality of this new CardioChek Panel is that those 3 independent values can be obtained from 1 small sample of blood : 40 µL.
The Metabolic Syndrome defined
The metabolic syndrome, sometimes called “Syndrome X”, is characterized by certain metabolic risk factors in one person.
They include :
- Atherogenic dyslipidemia (mainly high Triglycerides and low HDL-Cholesterol)
- Insulin resistance or glucose intolerance
- Central obesity (excessive fat tissue in and around the abdomen)
- High blood pressure (130/85 mmHg or greater)
The syndrome is closely associated with a generalized metabolic disorder called insulin resistance, in which the body can’t use insulin efficiently. This is why the metabolic syndrome is also called insulin resistance syndrome.
How is the metabolic syndrome diagnosed?*
- Fasting blood Triglycerides equal to or greater than 150mg.dL or 1.7 mmol/L
- Blood HDL-Cholesterol :
- Men: less than 40 mg/dL or 1.0 mmol/L
- Women: less than 50 mg/dL or 1.3 mmol/L
- Fasting glucose equal to or greater than 110 mg/dL of 6.1 mmol/L
- Central obesity as measured by waist circumference:
- Men: greater than 102 cm
- Women: greater than 88 cm
- Blood pressure greater than or equa to 130/85 mmHg
* according to the ATP III criteria, the metabolic syndrome is identified by the presence of 3 or more of these symptoms.
